Avoiding a Green Scene

For all the blondes out there the summer can be hard on our hair. It doesn't help that we constantly have to get it bleached to keep our roots in tact, but when the pool gets involved our perfect blonde goes slightly green, but have no fear The Beauty Department is here! They've shared a couple tricks with us and I though I'd pass them along to you all...

  • Wet your hair in the shower before jumping in the pool. Make sure your shower water isn’t chlorinated. If the chlorine level in your shower water is high you should be using a water filtration system like THIS ONE.
  • Wring out the water and apply regular conditioner to the middle + ends of your hair. You don’t need a ton- the size of a quarter will do the trick. Don’t rinse it out.
  • Now put your hair in a low tight bun before jumping in to the pool.

What's your trick for avoiding the green scene?

Bring Your Lunch

Back again! I was on vacation and then in a slump of blogging but I came across the cutest post on StumbleUpon and had to share. Mason Jars are super in right now. They are used in many DIY inspired weddings, converted into candle holders and used simply as a glass for water. But from all the different posts and ideas for these jars I have yet to see this idea of a lunch box. The Daily Muse posted this idea and I am completely sold. The article gives different ideas you can use to fill your Mason Jar and I am sure there are many more that can be made, just use your imagination.

Have a happy Tuesday!

I love you more than...

I came across this cute post on the wonderful Joanna Waterfall's blog. I love all her posts and the fun things she finds on the internet but this post was particularly fun. Maybe its due to my love of coffee or the simplicity of the note, whatever it is this is one of my favorites she has found. And I just had to share.

Enjoy your Saturday!

A Patriotic Post

I hope you all had a wonderful fourth of July. I know mine was great, filled with family and friends. Again I used the excuse of the holiday to whip up a delicious treat. The family kept raving about it so I thought I'd share my recipe from the Food Network

It is quick and easy to make, and the oven can stay off which is perfect for keeping the house cool during summer days. Happy Thursday all!

red, white and blue

Happy 4th of July!

I love holidays and I love traditions. I love coming together with family and friends celebrating the day as if we were never apart. And I love partaking in traditions that have been around since I can remember. On this day my family wakes up to red, white and blue waffles and later fills the streets for a 4th of July parade. The day is filled with laughter and memories, but most importantly it is filled with the knowledge that we are free. Not for what we have done, but for others laying down their life for us.

Enjoy your day everyone and be safe!

Arizona Heat

I am back from the horribly hot Arizona and glad to be home in Cali. I didn't have much time to relax, ten 13-year-old girls don't give you that opportunity, but when I did I was out at the pool soaking up the sun with my essential summer pieces.

Hope you all had a wonderful week and are getting ready for the 4th of July festivities!
